Nearby, you can also visit Haanpää Alpaca Farm, just over 20 km from Jämsä, and Nihtilä Farm’s petting zoo in Kuhmoinen.
Arolan Pony Farm offers unforgettable moments with adorable Shetland ponies! You can enjoy pony sessions, horse stable visits, pony rides, and guided riding lessons – all conveniently located near Himos. Visits to the pony farm are available by appointment from September to May, and during the summer months, the ponies live in Padasjoki. At Hirvikartano Zoo, you can meet the moose from eye to eye – and even give them a kiss! Finland’s only tame moose zoo is conveniently located near Himos, and you can also see deer and reindeer. During the winter season from January 7th to March 29th, 2025, all tours are guided and include treats for the moose, reindeer, and roe deer.
McAho Safaris invites you to meet the cheerful and friendly Siberian huskies! These charming residents of the kennel live in Jämsä’s Arvaja. The kennel visit lasts about an hour, and booking is easy in advance.
At Ranta-Hirvelä Farm, you can meet adorable farm animals, including goats, sheep, chickens, horses, reindeer, and rabbits.
