Summer activities for children
Welcome to Himos-Jämsä, where you can enjoy exciting activities! Explore the Maauimala activity park of the Outdoor Swimming Pool, Skate Park, and Pump Track for fast-paced fun on summer days. Children’s playgrounds offer plenty of fun and adventures, and the Outdoor Swimming Pool area features a beach where you can take a swim while enjoying playful moments. Visit real mooses and deer at the Moose Manor and also meet the most charming animals at Ranta-Hirvelä Farm! Around a one hour’s drive from Tampere, there is a long-time favourite for families with children – the Särkänniemi Amusement Park. Also, the joyful activity and adventure park Hop-Lop, which is designed for kids, can be found in both Tampere and Jyväskylä.
Maauimala activity park
During the summer, the Maauimala area offers fantastic opportunities for exercise and relaxation. There is a sandy beach and a sun terrace where you can enjoy a summer day while soaking up the sun. The children’s playground is a place where the youngest members of the family can play and have fun. Finland’s largest Bukk Off Ice training track provides the opportunity to practice ice hockey, rinkball, and floorball skills.
Toy Museum
The Toy Museum Helminauha is like a treasure trove full of history and the joy of play! In the museum, you can explore thousands of toys that span the entire 20th century up to the present day. You’ll see toys and artifacts from days gone by that Finnish children have played with over the years.
Playgrounds
Slides and swishing swings are the order of the day for the wee members of the family visiting Jämsä. The Himos-Jämsä region is fairly filled with fun playgrounds, where kids can run and tumble for a fun day out. Some of the more popular playgrounds include the special Moomin-themed play area at Swimming Hall Koskikara, Maauimala Playground and at Himos. There are also fund playgrounds in Lamminsuo Park. A sign with information on the playground and its location can be found at each playground.
Moose Manor Zoo
Welcome to experience a unique adventure at Moose Manor! You have the opportunity to meet moose, roe deer, and reindeer up close; you can even pet or even kiss a moose! Moose Manor’s summer season runs from June 26th to August 31st, 2024.
Ranta-Hirvelä Farm
At Ranta-Hirvelä Farm, there are various domestic animals living on the premises. In addition to the adorable animals, the farm also hosts animal-themed clubs, events, and camps. Beaches
During the summer, you can pamper yourself with beach life at several beaches in Himos-Jämsä. In the city center, the Maauimala area features a sandy beach where you can sunbathe and refresh yourself by taking a swim. Additionally, the popular sandy beaches of Varpaisniemi and Särkijärvi, beloved by families with children, invite you to spend warm summer days by the shore.
